Oh, this was one of the few cookbooks in our house when I was growing up (and I packed it into my suitcase when I went off to university in the 80s). I’m sure it would be just as relevant in these tricky times, too.

That is another favourite. Ah – nostalgia! I seem to remember she had a really good recipe for pastry sable in it. Did I invent that? I must unearth my old battered copy….
